Mission of SIMA
The mission of the organization is to educate, advocate, support, and empower Somali minority refugee community through the provision of resources, education, and guidance to build self sufficient lives.
SIMA holds classes in Minneapolis high rise buildings to teach English to refugees and immigrants and Somali Language to anyone interested.
The goal of these classes is to teach basic reading and writing, as well as spoken English and Somali. So far, we taught literacy to about 200 students, some of whom never wrote or read in any language before, including their mother tongue.
